Victory Day on 30 August was marked in Bodrum with a full programme of official ceremonies and public events held across the peninsula.
In the morning, the Bodrum District Governor’s Office (Kaymakamlık) led a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument in Bodrum Municipality Square. The official programme continued with a formal congratulations reception at the District Governor’s Office and concluded with a visit to the TCSG-106 Coast Guard vessel, affiliated with the Naval Forces Command.
Victory parades were also held at sea. Gündoğan Sports Club led a convoy off Gündoğan Public Beach, while a separate parade took place off Turgutreis, with participation from fishing and tour boats operating under the Turgutreis Fisheries Co-operative.
At the same time, torchlight processions were organised in multiple locations: from Milta Bodrum Marina to Bodrum Municipality Square; from the Akçaalan Multi-Purpose Hall to Turgutreis Atatürk Square; from Yalıkavak Municipality Café to Yalıkavak Atatürk Square; and from Mustafa Kallem Park to Mumcular Republic Square.
Concerts were staged in different neighbourhoods as part of the celebrations. Madrigal performed in Bodrum Municipality Square; ‘Dolu Kadehi Ters Tut’ in Turgutreis Atatürk Square; Pusula in Yalıkavak Atatürk Square; and Emirhan & Görkem Band in Mumcular Republic Square.
