Bodrum Municipality is carrying out regular water replenishment to rural ponds at risk of drying out during periods of extreme heat. Led by teams from the Directorate of Cleaning Services, water is supplied at scheduled intervals to ponds in Çiftlik, Kızılağaç, Kumköy, Yeniköy and Mumcular.
Following identification of ponds that had dried up, approximately 20 ponds were replenished with a total of 182 tonnes of water. Local residents also supported the effort using their own means, transporting water to the ponds by tractor at regular intervals.
The programme, launched in 2019 and maintained on a routine basis, aims to prevent pond water levels from being depleted by high temperatures, meet the water needs of wildlife, and ensure that residents engaged in livestock farmingdo not face water shortages. Water replenishment works will continue at regular intervals until the end of summer.
