Ongoing Action Against Unauthorised Construction Since 2019

As part of Bodrum Municipality’s sustained campaign against unauthorised construction, we continue to implement inspection and enforcement measures with diligence, including site detection, formal legal notifications, filing criminal complaints where required, sealing procedures (stop-work measures), administrative fines, and demolition decisions.
In December 2023, demolition works were carried out for 9 structures. Demolition decisions were implemented for 88 structures, and sealing procedures were applied at 71 ongoing construction sites. In addition, in line with the relevant legislation, administrative fines totalling TRY 107,818,788 were issued during the same month.
Across 2023, a total of 575 demolition decisions were issued for construction sites; demolition decisions were implemented for 140 buildings, and works were halted at 2,421 construction sites.
Through the Directorate of Building Control’s enforcement programme launched in 2019, to date 989 unauthorised structures have been demolished, sealing procedures have been applied to 6,961 sites, and 2,860 case files have been placed on the demolition programme.
