A Journey Through History: Pedasa Ancient City

The Cultural and Nature Tours, organized by the ‘Pedasa and Leleg Civilization Research and Application Department’ under the Municipality’ Directorate of Culture & Social Affairs, began with a visit to the Pedasa Ancient City.

The event aimed to showcase the region’s historical and natural beauty, attracting approximately 250 participants, including Bodrum Municipality's Cultural and Social Affairs Director Gülizar Gökçakır, municipal staff and history and nature enthusiasts.

During the nearly three-hour tour, Archaeologist Serap Topalaoğlu provided detailed information about the history of Pedasa, the Leleg Civilization, Bodrum’s past and the local ruins. The route began at the Athena Sacred Area at the entrance to Pedasa, continuing to the Acropolis and the tomb monuments in the Leleg Necropolis on the Sivriçam Hill. Participants were informed about the ruins along the way.

After the tour, the participants expressed their thanks to Mayor Tamer Mandalinci for organizing the event, to Archaeologist Serap Topalaoğlu for her informative contributions and to all those involved, requesting that such events continue.
