Mayor Tamer Mandalinci participated in the 28th East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition (EMITT), where he shared insights on Bodrum’s tourism strategy and expectations for the 2025 season.
Speaking at the fair, Mayor Mandalinci emphasized Bodrum’s historical, cultural and natural significance, stating:
“Bodrum is a destination that has left its mark on the Mediterranean region with its natural beauty and rich history. It is a globally recognized tourism destination. As local governments, tourism stakeholders, and residents of Bodrum, we have a responsibility to enhance this potential. Through these fairs, we are working tirelessly to reinforce Bodrum’s brand value and attract more visitors.”
Bodrum Tourism Master Action Plan: A Vision for All Seasons
Highlighting the municipality’s efforts to promote tourism year-round, Mandalinci introduced the Bodrum Tourism Master Action Plan. Mandalinci outlined a strategic approach that divides tourism into two key segments: summer and winter tourism corridors.
“With the Bodrum Tourism Master Action Plan, we shall create a collaborative decision-making process among tourism industry stakeholders. Our aim is to establish a holistic and well-coordinated tourism corridor. The summer corridor includes events such as the ‘Two Shores Culture Festival’, ‘the International Mediterranean Literature Days’, and ‘the Bodrum Cup’, which already attract significant attention. However, we also aim to develop a winter tourism corridor focused on gastronomy, congress tourism and festivals like the Mandarine Festival and ‘the Bitter Herb Festival’. Our ultimate goal is to ensure Bodrum is not just a summer destination but a 12-month tourism hub that contributes to our country’s economy.”
Bodrum: A Global Tourism Hotspot
Referring to Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras' vision of “World City Muğla”, Mandalinci remarked:
“This region is a global tourism hotspot. Muğla’s thirteen districts each offer unique cultural and natural treasures, with Bodrum being one of the most prominent. We are committed to preserving and enhancing Bodrum’s historical and cultural heritage for future generations. That is why we are here at EMITT, to promote our city’s vision and reinforce its position on the global tourism map.”
2025 Tourism Expectations
Expressing optimism for the 2025 tourism season, Mandalinci shared promising trends based on early reservations and international interest.
“We are highly optimistic about the 2025 tourism season. The demand for Bodrum is strong, particularly in international markets. The recent fair in the UK was also a great success. With the increasing number of direct flights to Bodrum, we anticipate a busy season both locally and globally. Tourism in our city is set to reach new heights, bringing prosperity to our businesses and residents.”
