FROM MYNDOS TO PEDASA: GÜMÜŞLÜK RESIDENTS RECONNECT WITH THEIR ROOTS

A presentation on the regional history of Gümüşlük was organized by Bodrum Municipality, attracting significant interest from locals and members of the Gümüşlük Neighborhood.


The event, held at Gümüşlük neighborhood and arranged by the Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs’ ‘Pedasa & Leleg Civilization Research Department’, highlighted the early history of Bodrum and the little-known Leleg settlements.

Archaeologist Serap Topaloğlu captivated the audience with a detailed exploration of Bodrum’s ancient past, focusing on the enigmatic Leleg civilization. The presentation included insights into the city of Myndos, one of the key Leleg settlements and showcased the findings and research conducted at the site.

The event also shed light on future projects spearheaded by the Pedasa and Leleg Civilization Research Department, aimed at preserving and promoting Bodrum’s cultural heritage.

Attendees expressed their appreciation for the initiative, extending special thanks to Mr. Mayor Tamer Mandalinci and the organizing team. Many attendees shared their excitement about learning previously unknown aspects of their local history and voiced strong support for the continuation of these educational programs.
