The 17th Bodrum Mandarin Festival, held on December 15 in Bitez Village Square, brought together locals and officials to celebrate Bodrum’s iconic tangerines and promote sustainable agriculture. Organized by the municipality and Bitez Neighborhood Administration, the event featured a vibrant program, including traditional dances, music, workshops and discussions on rural tourism, women entrepreneurs and sustainable farming practices.

Key attendees included Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çit, Milas District Governor Mustafa Ünver Böke, municipal representatives, representatives of NGOs, and local residents. The festival opened with a traditional tangerine harvest at the Bodrum Municipality Agricultural Services Directorate's demonstration orchard and continued with a lively procession featuring camels, drums and zurna.

Speakers highlighted the festival’s role in promoting Bodrum’s agricultural heritage. District Governor Çit stressed the importance of preserving Bodrum’s tangerines, while Municipal Council Member Hüseyin Cem Köylü reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to sustainable farming.

Despite rainy weather, visitors enjoyed performances, local delicacies and tangerine giveaways, with over 20 tons of fruit distributed for free. Workshops on agro-tourism, zero-pesticide farming, and cooperative production showcased innovative approaches to rural development.

The festival also supported social causes, with awareness booths by the Women & Family Services Directorate and fundraising activities for SMA-Tip 1 patient Kaan Ali Danaş. The day concluded with live music and DJ performances, leaving attendees with a sense of pride in Bodrum’s rich cultural and agricultural legacy.
