BREAKING BARRIERS: BODRUM COMES TOGETHER FOR WORLD DISABILITY DAY

On December 3, World Disability Day, a series of meaningful events were held in Bodrum to honor and support individuals with disabilities.
The day’s programme, coordinated by the Bodrum District Governorate, included a special luncheon at the Müsgebi Wedding Hall organized by Bodrum Municipality. Another key highlight was the opening of the Bodrum Short Break Center, a joint initiative by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Bodrum Municipality, designed to support individuals with special needs and their families.
The District Directorate of National Education hosted a lively programme at Bitez Mehmet Efe Indoor Sports Hall. The event was attended by Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çit, Deputy Mayor Tanju Aksu, district state officials, as well as students and teachers from schools across Bodrum.
The programme featured workshops, musical and dance performances, and the recitation of poems highlighting the significance of the day.
Inauguration of the Bodrum Short Break Center
A key highlight was the inauguration of the Bodrum Short Break Center, designed to offer individuals with special needs a space for meaningful activities while providing their families with much-needed respite. This project, developed in partnership between Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Bodrum Municipality, underscores a commitment to enhancing quality of life for the disabled community.
The center is open to families across Muğla Province who have relatives aged five and above with special needs.
A Night of Unity and Hope
In the evening, Bodrum Municipality hosted a special World Disability Day dinner at Müsgebi Wedding Hall, bringing together District Governor Mustafa Çit, Deputy Mayor Ahmet Faik Karakaya, municipal officials, political representatives, individuals with disabilities, their families and teachers.
The event fostered a spirit of unity with messages of compassion and cooperation. Guests enjoyed music, dancing and a celebratory cake-cutting, symbolizing the shared commitment to creating a more inclusive community.
