Legal Actions Taken Against 97 Individuals in One Week
The Bodrum Municipal Police Department has ramped up its campaign to combat cigarette butt littering, enforcing strict penalties against individuals who pollute public spaces by discarding cigarette waste across the district.
Municipal enforcement teams are actively patrolling the city, issuing fines to individuals who litter with cigarette butts in line with Article 6, Clause 13 of the Bodrum Municipal Police Regulations. Drivers who toss cigarette butts from moving vehicles are also identified and fined, under Article 10, Clause 2 of these regulations. Over the past week alone, 97 individuals were fined, with administrative penalties amounting to a total of 199,000 lira.
The municipality’s efforts to uphold environmental cleanliness shall continue in full force, with targeted inspections in parks, gardens, squares and other communal areas. These initiatives are supported by both municipal police enforcement teams and volunteer civilians to ensure the preservation of Bodrum’s public spaces.
