03.08.2024
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci continues his field visits in the neighborhoods of Çarşı, Kumbahçe, as well as Türkkuyusu, Kale and Atatürk streets.
Under the slogan "Working for a Happy Bodrum" Mayor Tamer Mandalinci visited the neighborhoods of Çarşı and Kumbahçe, as well as Türkkuyusu, Kale, and Atatürk streets. Mandalinci listened to the requests, suggestions, and complaints from citizens and shopkeepers on-site, stating, "We identify issues on-site and deliver quick solutions."
Regarding complaints from residents of Türkkuyusu and Atatürk Street about irregular migrants, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci noted that they would follow up on the issue and immediately communicate with relevant state departments to ensure solutions are provided.
Inspection of Chimneys
During the visit to Atatürk Street, some citizens expressed their discomfort with the odor and smoke coming from the chimneys of restaurants. In response, Mayor Mandalinci instructed municipal police teams (zabıta) to repeat the inspections conducted at the beginning of the season. The municipal police inspected ten restaurants on Atatürk Street in response to the complaints and found that three had obtained the "Wet Chimney Cleaning Certificate" while seven had not. The teams issued a 14-day "Warning Report" to the businesses without certificates. Businesses that do not complete the necessary cleaning and obtain the certificate within the given period will face legal penalties.
Measures for Speed and Visual Pollution
In response to complaints from residents about the high speed and random parking of motorcycles on Atatürk Street, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci stated that relevant department heads would investigate the issue and develop solutions in cooperation with relevant state institutions. Mandalinci commented:
"According to statistics, Muğla ranks first in Türkiye for motorcycle usage. Naturally, motorcycle usage is quite high in Bodrum for various reasons. We will develop solution-oriented projects in cooperation with relevant state institutions to address this issue. We are also working on the problem of motorcycles being parked randomly on sidewalks, which is a significant issue throughout the Bodrum Peninsula. We are identifying locations for 'motorcycle parks' in the city center and will conclude this work as soon as possible."
Responding to complaints from citizens and shopkeepers about the visual pollution and bad odors caused by garbage being put out at times other than the scheduled collection hours, Mayor Mandalinci stated, "The municipality's garbage collection hours will be rescheduled, and we will increase the frequency of collections considering the complaints. However, citizens also need to act responsibly in terms of putting out and sorting their garbage."
Mandalinci will continue his field studies throughout the peninsula.
