Cyprus Veteran İbrahim Hürmeydan commented on the works of the Office of Martyr Families and Veteran Services, saying:

"The works carried out by our municipality for veterans make us very happy. We are glad to have such a bureau. Knowing that there is an institution behind us regarding potential problems is important for us. I thank everyone involved with this office, especially our mayor and deputy mayors."

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci celebrated the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, saying, “By saying 'We are actually going to the island not for war but for peace and not only to bring peace to the Turks but also to the Greeks' our former Prime Minister Mr. Bülent Ecevit, Necmettin Erbakan, the Founding President of TRNC Rauf Denktaş and Fazıl Küçük instilled in us the spirit of peace and freedom. We respectfully and gratefully commemorate our martyrs who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and we offer our respect, love and gratitude to our heroic veterans who have inscribed their names on the pages of history."
