The first term of the 2024 Youth and Agriculture Camp, organized by the the Municipality ’s Agricultural Services Directorate, has come to an end


Held for the fourth time by Bodrum Municipality’s Agricultural Services Directorate at Garaova Agricultural Park, the first term of the 2024 Youth & Agriculture Camp saw enthusiastic participation from university students in its first term.


On the first day, students experienced Bodrum's natural beauty with a morning hike along the historic Leleg Trail. They received theoretical training in Good Agricultural Practices and Conventional Agriculture, practical training in Viticulture and Enology and theoretical training in Organic Agriculture. The students also visited the Soilless Agriculture Greenhouse.

Throughout the rest of the programme, participants attended sessions on Seed Production & Plant Cultivation Methods, Beekeeping and Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Cultivation at the İsmail Hakkı Tonguç Agricultural School & Museum. The students were also provided with detailed information about the activities of the Bodrum Municipality Agricultural Services Directorate. In addition to the educational sessions, participants enjoyed social activities such as campfires, open-air cinema and tours of Bodrum. Actors from the Municipality’s City Theatre also held an "Improvisational Theatre Workshop" for the participants.

The Agricultural Face of Bodrum

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci stated, "We have launched the 2024 4th Youth & Agriculture Camp organized by our Agricultural Services Directorate. Through this camp to be held in five terms, we are connecting young people with proper agricultural techniques and the soil. This camp programme, where we host many students from different regions of our country, allows us to showcase the agricultural aspect of our city to all of Türkiye. We aim to raise awareness that Bodrum is not just about sea, sand and sun, and to strengthen our city's position in agro-tourism."

Students who received their participation certificates from the acting Mayor Emel Çakaloğlu (representing the Mayor Tamer Mandalinci) and municipal council members expressed their gratitude with the training and activities. The attendees  were very happy to have the opportunity to get to know Bodrum through the camp.

The second term of the 2024 Youth & Agriculture Camp, which is planned to be held in five terms, will take place from July 21-26, 2024.
