10.07.2024
The ninth stage of the Seabed Cleaning organized by the Municipality took place in Gündoğan Bay
The seabed cleaning event, carried out by Bodrum Municipality’s Support Services and Sanitation Works Directorates under the slogan "The Sea Deserves the Most Blue”, took place this week in Gündoğan Bay.
Representing the Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çelikkan, along with municipal council members, Gündoğan Neighborhood Head Ali İneci, representatives from the Republican People's Party Gündoğan branch, relevant municipal department heads, a volunteer diving team, staff and citizens attended the event. During the seabed cleaning effort aimed at removing waste from the sea, the volunteer diving team extracted 213 kilograms of waste, while citizens cleaned the shore. The collected waste was displayed at Gündoğan Pier and then transported to the 1st Class Waste Collection Center for recycling.
Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çelikkan stated, "We are now at the ninth phase of our Seabed Cleaning event. While these scenes are unpleasant, the current results are encouraging compared to the early days of our seabed cleaning efforts. This reflects the awareness we have raised in the community. The support from the press and our citizens has been crucial in these efforts. I would like to thank them on behalf of Bodrum Municipality. We will continue our efforts until we restore the blue Bodrum deserves, to prevent such scenes."
The tenth phase of the Seabed Cleaning is scheduled to continue on the Türkbükü coast on Wednesday, July 17th.
