The second phase of the annual Underwater Cleanup, with the slogan "The Sea Deserves the Most Blue" was held in Yalıkavak.

Having been organized by the municipality for ten years to clear the Bodrum bays of waste, the campaign’s second phase of this year took place in Yalıkavak, lasting an hour and a half, during which approximately 2.5 tons of waste were collected.

The event was held in collaboration with the Municipality’s Support Services and Cleaning Services Departments. Participants included Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Yalıkavak Mukhtar Ali Çınar, municipal council members, students from ‘Halil İbrahim İper Adnan İper Anatolian High School’, relevant municipal department heads, staff and a 13-member volunteer diving team of municipal personnel.

Having mentioned that the first phase of this year's cleanup took place in Kumbahçe, Mayor Mandalinci stated; “Our diving team removed around 2.5 tons of waste from the sea, while volunteers collected about 1.5-2 tons of waste from the beaches and walking paths”

Referring to the Cleanup Campaign, Mayor Mandalinci announced that the second phase would take place on Wednesday, May 22nd, and added:

"I want to call on everyone in Türkiye to join us. Not only in Bodrum but across the country, citizens can clean the areas in front of their homes, workplaces and streets on that day. As local governments, our primary responsibility is to keep our environment, nature, cities and country clean. By working together with our citizens, we will not only clean but also raise awareness, creating happier futures for all."

The waste collected during the Underwater Cleanup event was taken to the 1st Class Waste Collection Center in Konacık for recycling.
