Attempt to Camouflage Illicit Building with Tree Branches
Led by Mayor Ahmet Aras, Bodrum Municipality has made efforts against illegal construction district-wide since 2019. However, a recent discovery in Gündoğan neighborhood raised eyebrows, an illegal construction attempt concealed with tree branches.
Within the scope of campaign against illegal construction, Bodrum Municipality diligently carries out identification, reporting of offenses, sealing procedures, monetary fines and demolition resolutions.
From April 2019 until today, a total of 989 demolitions and 6961 sealing procedures have been executed. In December 2023, 9 demolitions took place, 88 buildings-owners received demolition orders and 71 ongoing constructions were sealed. Additionally, December saw fines amounting to 107.818.788 TL imposed in adherence to legal regulations.
As part of the ongoing initiatives, 575 demolition orders were issued for illegal constructions in 2023. Demolition was executed for 140 structures and construction was halted for 2,421 buildings.
Concealed with tree branches
Aside from reports submitted to municipal departments, routine inspections by Municipal Police & Building Control Directorate teams play a crucial role. During a recent inspection on Inönü Street in Gündoğan, Municipal Police uncovered an illegal construction on private land, cleverly hidden behind tree branches. Swift legal actions were taken in response.
