BODRUM MUNICIPALITY CONTINUES ITS STRUGGLE AGAINST ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION

Bodrum Municipality remains unwavering in its campaign against unauthorized construction throughout the district since 2019.


As part of the campaign against illegal construction, Bodrum Municipality diligently carries out identification, reporting of offenses, sealing procedures, monetary fines and demolition resolutions.

In the last four years, 980 demolitions and 6890 sealing procedures were conducted.

In the last four years, 980 structures were demolished and 6,890 buildings were sealed by teams under the jurisdiction of Bodrum Municipality's Building Control Directorate, commencing the struggle against illegal construction in 2019. Furthermore, 2,772 cases have been incorporated into the demolition programme. In November alone, fines in total 18,545,449 Turkish Lira were imposed in accordance with relevant legal regulations.

Ongoing efforts for 2023 include demolition decisions for a total of 487 constructions, with 131 buildings having demolition decisions executed and 2350 constructions halted. In November, 4 constructions faced demolition resolutions, 18 buildings underwent demolition, and 125 ongoing constructions were halted.

Mayor Ahmet Aras stated the following regarding the struggle against illegal construction: "Bodrum Municipality diligently continues its efforts against illegal construction. Since the beginning of our term, we have steadfastly fought to protect the future of Bodrum and we continue to do so. The demolition resolutions taken by our teams are carried out in accordance with legal processes. I express my gratitude to all the teams who have been involved in this fight since day one. As a local government, we shall continue our struggle for our future.
