BOOK LAUNCH FOR BODRUM 1965-1991
The book "Bodrum 1965-1991," published with the supports of Bodrum Municipality, had its unveiling at the Hakan Aykan Cultural & Art Center. Authored and prepared by Prof. Dr. Reha Günay and featuring photographs from his lens, the book was published by Yapı Endüstri Merkezi (YEM) Publishing House. 

The introduction event, held on November 18th, was attended by Mayor Ahmet Aras, Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan, Prof. Dr. Reha Günay, YEM Publishin House Coordinator Mesut Kaya, Ahmet Berk, Yiğit Gülöksüz, Bodrum Municipality General Coordinator Emel Çakaloğlu, municipal council members, representatives of the NGOs, directors of the relevant municipal departments, press members and citizens.

In his opening speech, Mayor Ahmet Aras expressed gratitude for the cultural contributions and the efforts of the Architecture Library in preserving Bodrum's heritage. Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan highlighted the cultural focus of Bodrum Municipality's publications.

Prof. Dr. Reha Günay, the photographer and author of "Bodrum 1965-1991 In the Footsteps of Traditional Architecture-1," thanked Mayor Ahmet Aras, Umut Ülkümen and Suha Özkan for their valuable contributions to the publication of the book. In his book, Günay reflected on Bodrum's transformation from the 1960s to 1991, emphasizing the importance of preserving its cultural heritage amid urban development challenges.

YEM Publications Coordinator Mesut Kaya highlighted the importance of passing on the unique geography and culture of Bodrum to future generations. He expressed appreciation to Mayor Ahmet Aras and his team for their efforts in preserving this culture.

The event concluded with participant and the press receiving complimentary copies of the municipal publication "Bodrum 1915-1991," featuring photographs and details of Bodrum's distinctive whitewashed houses.
