GREAT LEADER REMEMBERED FONDLY IN BODRUM
COMMEMORATING THE 85TH ANNIVERSARY OF ATATÜRK'S PASSING

Great Commander Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was commemorated on the 85th anniversary of his eternal rest with a series of events in Bodrum, as in the entire country.

As part of the commemoration programme, a wreath-laying ceremony took place in Municipality Square, attended by Bodrum Governor Mustafa Çit, Bodrum Garrison Commander Col. Ertan Benli, Acting Chief Prosecutor Republic Prosecutor Mert Asker Yüksektepe, Mayor Ahmet Aras, heads of the state institutions, political party heads and executives, deputy mayors, municipal department directors and staff, representatives of NGOs, veterans, teachers, students and a diverse assembly of citizens.

The commemoration ceremony, initiated with wreath-laying at the Atatürk Monument, progressed into a 2-minute moment of silence harmonized with sirens broadcasted at 9:05 through municipal speakers, followed by the rendition of the İstiklal March, the national anthem. Throughout streets and lanes, citizens paid respects with a moment of silence, joining in the singing of the national anthem.

After the commemoration ceremony, Bodrum Municipality distributed sweets (lokma) in the municipality square.

The events within the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Commemoration Programme continued at 10:30 at the Atatürk Cultural Center of Marmara College.

The programme included special discussions & concerts.

On November 10th, at 14:00 in Bodrum Municipality Nurol Cultural Center, the Atatürk Commemoration Programme proceeded with a discussion titled "Atatürk's Last Days" by Republic historian and scientist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özgiray. Prof. Dr. Bayram Akça from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Arts contributed to the conversation, encompassing the period from Atatürk's birth to his eternal rest and the consequential impacts of his passing.

Later that evening at 20:00 in the Herodot Cultural Center, within the framework of the 1st International Bodrum Theater Festival, the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra presented the concert "Songs of the Republic."

Commemoration activities for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk continued on November 14th, Tuesday, at 20:00 at Marmara College with the Bodrum Municipality Turkish Music Society's Special Concert commemorating the 100th anniversary of our Republic and dedicated to Atatürk.
