Mayor Ahmet Aras expressed his respect and longing for the Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the architect of our Republic and our independence, on the 85th anniversary of his passing, saying:
"Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, an exceptional genius, a great military leader and statesman, bequeathed the Republic to us a century ago as the architect of our War of Independence. He not only liberated our country from invading forces on the battlefield but also abolished the monarchy, handing over sovereignty to the nation. Furthermore, with the reforms he initiated, he ushered in a new era for the Turkish nation. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk established a bright future for our Republic that will last forever.
With his unique foresight, Atatürk signed peace treaties with countries in both the east and west, creating a 'peace belt.' Thanks to this, the Republic of Türkiye has been living in peace for a hundred years.
The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, through the legacy he left us, wanted us to protect it forever and by following the path of science, he encouraged us to advance our civilization to a higher level. Today, we continue to walk the path he has shown us, unwavering in our dedication to our independence and our commitment to the Republic, with a deep love for Atatürk in our hearts.
We proudly carry the torch of freedom that was ignited a century ago to future generations.
In the second century, we shall continue to protect Atatürk's principles and revolutions, pass them on to our youth, safeguarding our future. I invite all the citizens to join us in the events taking place from November 10 to November 14 and commemorate our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk among us.
