BODRUM INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST REGATTAS SET SAIL

The 11th edition of the "Bodrum International Optimist Sailing Regattas" (BIOR) has officially commenced in Bodrum, with the participation of 400 young sailors from seven countries.
This event, taking place between October 10th and 15th, 2023, in collaboration with the Bodrum Municipality and the Turkish Sailing Federation, began with a procession at Bodrum Harbor. Teams walked from Bodrum Marina to Belediye Square, accompanied by the Bodrum band, creating a colorful spectacle.
Taking place from October 10th to 15th, 2023, the event is organized under the auspices of Bodrum Municipality and in collaboration with the Turkish Sailing Federation. It kicked off with a colorful procession at Bodrum Harbor, as teams paraded from Bodrum Marina to Belediye Square, accompanied by the lively tunes of the Bodrum Band.
During the procession, young sailors were accompanied by Acting Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Bodrum Youth & Sports District Director Oktay Dumruk, B.B.Bodrum Sports Club Sailing Branch Manager Hadi Türk, the coaches of sailors, and their families. Following the protocol speeches, Bodrum Governor Mustafa Çit, along with protocol members and the national sailing team, conducted the traditional balloon release ceremony, which has become a customary tradition.
Erkçelik Halat is the main sponsor for BIOR 2023 and the starting signal was given by Bodrum Governor Mustafa Çit and Acting Mayor Tamer Mandalinci in front of the Bodrum Sports Club Yacht Club. The regattas will conclude with an awards ceremony on October 15th, following a week of challenging competitions.
