2,283 KILOGRAMS OF WASTE GATHERED ACROSS 10 NEIGHBORHOODS

The "Underwater Cleaning Event" initiated by Bodrum Municipality with the slogan "The Sea Deserves the Most Blue" continued in Ortakent and Güvercinlik neighborhoods.
The "Underwater Cleaning Event," launched to purify various bays and beaches in Bodrum from waste materials, continued in the Ortakent and Güvercinlik neighborhoods. A volunteer diving team affiliated with Bodrum Municipality's Support Services Directorate and Cleaning Services Directorate retrieved various waste materials from the sea.
A Total of 530 Kilograms of Waste in Ortakent
During the event on Thursday, August 31st, municipal teams successfully extracted a total of 530 kilograms of waste materials from the sea in Ortakent. This included 520 kilograms of tires, 5 kilograms of metal, 3 kilograms of plastic, and 2 kilograms of glass waste. After thorough sorting, the collected waste materials were transported to Bodrum Municipality's 1st Class Waste Collection Center.
A Total of 134 Kilograms of Waste in Güvercinlik
On Wednesday, September 6, in Güvercinlik neighborhood, during the event, teams retrieved a total of 134 kilograms of waste materials from the sea, including 75 kilograms of tires, 13 kilograms of plastic, 21 kilograms of metal, 7 kilograms of glass, and 18 kilograms of textile waste. After the collected waste materials were sorted, they were transported to Bodrum Municipality's 1st Class Waste Collection Center.
A Total of 2,283 Kilograms of Waste Collected in 10 Different Neighborhoods
Since the cleaning campaign started on July 19, a total of 2,283 kilograms of waste has been collected in Türkbükü, Gündoğan, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük, Küçükbük, Turgutreis, Akyarlar, Kadıkalesi, Ortakent and Güvercinlik neighborhoods.
The final chapter of the event is scheduled for September 13th at 10:00 AM at Kumbahçe Bay. The waste retrieved from the seabed, along with photographs documenting the efforts undertaken during this period, will be exhibited in Bodrum Municipality Square.
