CLEARING THE SEABED IN GÜNDOĞAN

MUNICIPALITY'S DIVE TEAM TAKES ON CLEANUP


The Marine Bottom Cleanup Campaign, organized by the Municipal Directorate of Support Services & Cleaning Affairs, carried on along the shores of Gündoğan Neighborhood.

Under the motto "The Sea Adorns Blue the Best," this marine bottom cleaning initiative has been fostering environmental consciousness and awareness since 2015. The cleanup efforts continued in Gündoğan Neighborhood, with the participation of Bodrum Municipality's Vice Mayors, Tayfun Yılmaz and İbrahim Akbaş, Support Services Director İzzet Mert Kallem, relevant department staff, and a devoted dive team formed from municipal personnel. The diving team conducted dives all along the Gündoğan shoreline, retrieving debris from the seabed.

In the course of the approximately 2-hour cleanup operation at Gündoğan beach, a total of 362 kg of waste was removed, comprising 32 kg of glass, 25 kg of plastic, 42 kg of metal, 204 kg of car tires, 47 kg of wood, and 12 kg of other waste items. The collected waste was sorted and transported to Bodrum Municipality's First-Class Waste Collection Center.

Tayfun Yılmaz, the Deputy Mayor of Bodrum, emphasized the significance of the marine bottom cleaning event during his speech and extended his heartfelt gratitude to all personnel involved. He stated, "Last week, we were in Türkbükü. Henceforth, our event will continue every Wednesday."

The next leg of Bodrum Municipality's Marine Bottom Cleanup Event will be held in Yalıkavak Neighborhood on Wednesday, August 2nd.
