"SEA BED CLEANUP CAMPAIGN" MARKS ITS 9TH YEAR

The "Denize En Çok Mavi Yakışır" (Blue Suits the Sea Best) Sea Bed Cleanup Campaign, initiated by Bodrum Municipality, has reached its 9th year with a kick-off in Türkbükü this year.

This year's Sea Bed Cleanup Campaign, organized by Bodrum Municipality – ‘the Directorate of Support Services & Cleaning Affairs’, began at Türkbükü Bay. In the morning hours, the Municipality Diving Team gathered at the Municipality Public Beach and commenced their dive outside the swimming area, collecting debris from the sea floor with the help of fishing boats.

During the approximately one-hour underwater cleaning operation, they managed to bring ashore nearly 200 kilograms of waste, including glass and metal bottles, plastic and metal waste, fishing nets, and vehicle tires. To raise awareness, the collected waste materials were exhibited on the coast for a while before being sorted and taken to the Bodrum Municipality Class 1 Waste Collection Center.

Emel Çakaoğlu, Acting Mayor of Bodrum, who participated in the event, expressed, "Once again, with our divers, we witnessed the distressing sight of the sea bed, which saddened us deeply. As Bodrum Municipality, we highly value these events for both creating awareness and environmental cleanliness. We shall continue our efforts."

The "Denize En Çok Mavi Yakışır" (Blue Suits the Sea Best) event will continue in the upcoming days in Gündoğan, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük, Turgutreis, Akyarlar, Bitez, Güvercinlik and Kumbahçe Neighborhoods.
