BODRUM MUNICIPALITY'S FIGHT AGAINST

The "Campaign against Illegal Construction" initiated by Bodrum Municipality continues.

Teams affiliated with the Municipal Directorate of Building Control carry out demolition processes in areas where legal procedures have been completed as a result of violations of Zoning and Coastal Laws, occupation of public areas, illegal filling and excavation areas, and environmental crimes based on the evaluation of reports received by the municipality.

Since the beginning of the project in 2019, 850 structures have been demolished, and 6,703 structures have been sealed. There are 1,516 files that need to be included in the demolition program.

Recently, the teams completed their work regarding a wooden cabin built on a pier owned by a business in Torba Bay. Upon the identification of the illegal structure, the wooden cabin was removed under the supervision of the teams of the Directorate of Building Control.

Mayor Aras emphasized that the demolition of buildings, whose legal procedures have been completed is carried out with determination and stated the following:

"There is a legal process regarding this matter and as the municipality, we must comply with this process. If property owners do not carry out the demolition process after the completion of the legal process, our teams intervene and carry out the demolition ourselves. Our entire effort is to protect our coasts, bays, and natural resources.
