ARSUZ FRIENDSHIP CITY RENEWED

After the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023, and was felt in 11 provinces, the Hatay Arsuz Friendship City, established by Bodrum Municipality, continues to provide services to the earthquake victims.

Having started its support from the first day of the earthquake and has been providing services in the region for approximately 6 months, the Bodrum Municipality continues its efforts to meet the basic needs of the earthquake-stricken citizens, such as shelter and food, in the Hatay Arsuz Friendship City.

Efforts to heal the wounds to some extent and enable earthquake-affected citizens to continue their lives began with the food and clothing aid sent from Bodrum, and innovations are being made in the city for the residents to lead more comfortable lives. Due to the difficult living conditions in tents, all the tents in the city were removed. As part of the improvements made in the region, 290 container houses were placed, providing accommodation for 1,400 citizens.

In the container city, all facilities such as showers, kitchen, sitting area, bed, television, air conditioning, stove, and water heater are provided to the citizens. Social facilities, storage areas, barber, hairdresser, cafe, market, children's playgrounds, library, pharmacy, health cabin, daycare center and laundry continue to serve the residents. In addition, walking and bicycle paths were built around the container city and the infrastructure, landscaping, and environmental safety were taken care of by the Bodrum Municipality teams.
