Opening of the 3rd Term Garaova Youth and Agriculture Camp

Bodrum Municipality's Directorate of Agricultural Services opened its doors to the guests of the 3rd Term Garaova Youth and Agriculture Camp, organized by Bodrum Municipality.
The opening ceremony took place at Garaova Agriculture Park, located in Etrim area of Pınarlıbelen neighborhood. Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras, Deputy Mayor Tayfun Yılmaz, Chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture Mehmet Melengeç, President of Bodrum Agricultural Development Cooperative (TARKO) Cesur Öncel, council members, department directors, neighborhood muhtars, participating students, press members, and citizens attended the event.
Bodrum Agriculture Camp Brings Hope to the Youth
In her speech at the opening ceremony, Nisa Ortaç, a student from Ege University and a participant of the camp, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the camp, stating that she encountered an organization that exceeded her expectations. Ortaç emphasized that Bodrum Agriculture Camp is a source of hope for them in terms of the future of agriculture in Turkey.
Targeting 1,500 Guests
Deputy Mayor Tayfun Yılmaz mentioned that they established the Directorate of Agricultural Services four years ago and expressed his happiness to see the progress made over these four years. He stated that they aim to host around 1,500 guests from all around Turkey and the world.
"Karaova Shall Develop with its Local Values"
Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras stated that it is humans who make a place either heaven or hell and mentioned their efforts to make the world and Bodrum a better place. Stressing the importance of Karaova's local values, Mayor Aras said, "We are working for the development of Karaova with its local values. Culture comes from the land. We will continue to work for the sustainability and progress of Karaova and our other regions engaged in agriculture."
Following the speeches, a folk dance show was performed with the indispensable drums and zurnas (traditional musical instruments) of Bodrum's local weddings. Mayor Aras, muhtars, department employees, and camp participants also joined the dance performances. After the symbolic lighting of the first campfire in 2023, participants were served traditional Bodrum cuisine at the Yörük Tent.
