BODRUM MUNICIPALITY BRINGS 350,000 SEEDLINGS TO PRODUCERS

Bodrum Municipality continues to support local farmers, who produce healthy food. A new distribution of seedlings was made to the local farmers who regularly receive support in Bahçeyaka neighborhood.
On April 26th, Wednesday, the municipal directorate of Agricultural Services coordinated a distribution event for summer vegetable seedlings at the ‘Agriculture Research & Development and Local Seed Center’. Tayfun Yılmaz, the Deputy Mayor; neighborhood mukhtars, relevant municipal personnel and producers participated in the distribution event.
Tayfun Yılmaz, the Deputy Mayor stated that they have come together with the local producers within the scope of this year's 4th summer seedling donation program and said, "Today, we are delivering 350,000 seedlings free of charge to our local producers. While 172,000 of them consist of the indigenous seeds we have grown ourselves, the remaining ones have been procured by our municipality. Within the last 4 years, we have brought 1.25 million seedlings together with our local producers of Bodrum Peninsula free of charge. Our aim is to contribute to the local producer, who has been crushed under difficult economic conditions, at least to some extent. We also want to increase the incentives for production, especially among the young generation. Our Agricultural Services Department has been providing support to producers for 3.5 years and shall continue to do so in the future. Along with seedlings, our education & consultancy services for producers on fertilizer, high-value-added products, and perennial plants shall also continue."
The local producers who received their seedlings expressed their satisfaction with the event held annually and appreciated the efforts of the municipality for its support.
