NEW PROJECTS OF BODRUM MUNICIPALITY ARE BECOMING A REALITY

While projects that meet the needs of the public continue to be carried out by Bodrum Municipality, event areas and marketplaces are being designed for demand-oriented projects. The projects, whose tender phases are completed, begins to be carried out by the Department of Study & Project under the Directorate of Civil Works.
Marketplaces Worthy and Proper for the Public
Within the scope of the completed design and tender process works, ‘Gümbet Covered Marketplace’, which has a covered area of 2,160 square meters, ‘Bodrum Municipality Çırkan Hüseyin Kuru Covered Marketplace’ and Social Event Area, which has a covered area of 1,440 square meters and ‘Bodrum Municipality Çiftlik İsmail Altındağ Covered Marketplace’, which has a covered area of 772 square meters, have been completed and opened to the public following construction and renovation works.
Marketplaces serving as social event areas as well, have been made on a large scale to meet the demand that arises due to the increasing population. Areas that will be used both as a marketplace and event area also include bridal rooms, cooking areas, and restrooms to be used during events. Extensions are made as needed, taking into account the needs in the relevant areas.
A Living Area of 34,500 Square Meters
While the Turgutreis Municipality Business Center and Square Arrangement Works initiated by the Department of Survey & Project in 2023 continue, it is planned to build 5 restaurants in the square, where citizens can spend their time comfortably in an open and spacious area.
Bodrum Municipality started the works due to the need for regulation in the area that is subject to intense use for the residents and visitors to spend enjoyable and quality time in an open area. Bodrum Municipality is also adapting the facade arrangement and architectural details of the business center, which is owned by the municipality, to the current conditions of the day.
In the square arrangement, which will have 3,200 square meters of green space and 3,100 square meters of concert and ceremony area, 920 square meters of bicycle path, 750 square meters of walking path, 6,600 square meters of beach area, 300 square meters of single-basketball court, 510 square meters of children's playground will be designed. In addition to landscape seating areas, 330 square meters of skate park and 400 square meters of open sports areas shall be available to citizens.
At the end of the business center and square arrangement works, which started in February and are planned to be completed in this summer season, Turgutreis shall have a living area of 34,500 square meters in total.
APPROACHING THE END IN THE ARCHIVE PROJECT
In the Halikarnas Fisherman Archive Restoration Project, where the important information and documents of Bodrum will be located, has been meticulously worked on for some time, and the end is approaching. While the project design, tender, and rough construction have been completely completed, interior design works also rapidly continue.
The aim of the project is to keep alive the consciousness and memory of the city, as well as to create a source for researchers, in the Bodrum Municipality-owned sakız-type building on Türkkuyusu Street. The building will include a documentation center, administrative bureau, exhibition terrace and a kitchen. The garden will be open for use as Halikarnas Fisherman's Tree Coffee.
Municipality's Efforts Towards Children's Socialization
The Department of Study & Project, which designs projects for the needs of families with children, is also working on projects to increase the number of nursing homes, offering opportunities for mothers and children to socialize.
The interior design phase of the Bodrum Municipality Çırkan Day-Care Home and Bodrum Municipality Karaova Ateş Canbaz Day-Care Home construction projects has been completed. While the process of accelerating the Bodrum Municipality ‘Lale-Süreyya Day-Care Home Project’, which has completed the land exploration with the building construction permit, continues, the Yalıkavak Day-Care Home Project, which is still in the design process, will also meet the Day-Care Home needs of families with children living in Yalıkavak.
Karaada Social Facility Project
Aiming to produce projects in accordance with the architectural, cultural, and historical texture of Bodrum, Bodrum Municipality continues its works meticulously. With the completion of the tender process, the municipality plans to meet another need and evaluate vacant spaces with the Karaada Social Facility Project. Within this scope, the existing texture in Kumbahçe neighborhood will be renewed and the facility shall include an office, dining hall, restaurant kitchen, open buffet areas, and pier functions.
Social Reinforcement Areas Serving the Public
Bodrum Municipality prepares projects for citizens to rest, spend quality time and for children to play in comfortable and safe areas. Starting with the most comprehensive relaxation, entertainment, and play area, Umurça Park, the municipality has put it into service first.
Having completed the construction of Halikarnas Fisherman's Observation Terrace in Yokuşbaşı, Bodrum Municipality has opened it to the service of citizens and visitors coming to Bodrum. In addition, the Directorate of Parks & Gardens has opened the (Dost Patiler) Frıendly Paws Training & Play Park, which has been meticulously designed for pet friends, for citizens to provide a fun and educational environment for their pets.
With the completion of Severcan Park in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood, locals can both relax and engage in various activities. The municipality continues to serve the people of Bodrum by offering social facilities, building play & sports areas in every neighborhood in the district.
While projects such as Bitez Cemevi, Binnaz Karakaya Indoor Swimming Pool Renovation, Kızılağaç Guest House, Serbay Ilıcak Cultural Center, Turgutreis Natural Products Market, and Çiftlik Vocational Training Center are ongoing, the bike path project in various parts of the city has been completed. Planning is being done to accelerate the work.
