MAYOR ARAS: “WE ARE WORKING FOR HAPPINESS OF BODRUM”
‘İsmail Altındağ Covered Market & Venue For Social Events’ built by Bodrum Municipality in Çiftlik neighborhood was put into service for citizens with an enthusiastic opening ceremony.
The Opening ceremony of the ‘İsmail Altındağ Covered Market & Venue For Social Events’, of which project was run by the ‘Municipal Directorate of Studies & Projects’ was attended by Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum; Halil Karahan, the District President of CHP; Deputy Mayors, Municipal Council Members, Halil Köse, the Neighborhood Mukhtar of Çiftlik; Mehmet Karaca, the Neighborhood Mukhtar of Kızılağaç; Hasan Kablı, the President of Bodrum Chamber of Drivers and Vehicle Owners, directors of municipal directorates and citizens.
In his speech, Halil Köse, the Neighborhood Mukhtar of Çiftlik thanked Mr. Mayor Aras and his team for bringing such a facility for the people of Çiftlik.
Having commemorated İsmail Altındağ, the former deceased deputy mayor of Bodrum, who made significant contributions to Bodrum with his passion of serving the people of Bodrum, Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum said, “This is the neighorhood of İsmail Altındağ, may his sould rest in peace. He had a great service to his neighborhood and Bodrum as well. We registered the name of our new market place as ‘Çiftlik İsmail Altındağ Covered Market & Venue For Social Events’ with the motivation of immortalizing his name. Soon, we shall immortalize his name with municipal council resolution as well. May god rest his soul. We are eternally grateful for his service and contributions to Bodrum.”
Continuing his speech, Mayor Aras appreciated the very valuable efforts of his associates:
“Our understanding of public service ethics on municipal administration is based on a motivation of being social, transparent, intertwined with the public and accountable. Bodrum has grown a lot in recent years. Everyone gets their share from this growth. The number of demands and needs are increasing as the population as well. But we are on our duty with great efforts of our municipal departments. I am proud of our dear friends and I appreciate the municipal staff, who made contributions to this facility.”
Having stated that they expect a big change in 2023, Mayor Aras said, “We spent the last two years with the effects of epidemic. We took a short breath in 2022. 2023 is the 100th anniversary of our republic founded by Atatürk. We are expecting a big change. I hope we shall crown our republic together with democracy.”.
“At this very moment in every corner of Bodrum investments are being carried out”
Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum said, “As a result of collaborative works we have done with the ‘Ministry of Culture & Tourism’, based on the increasing demand for services in Bodrum, the treatment plant facility project continues in Torba, Kızılağaç, Yaliçiftlik and İçmeler. We need to get rid of septic tanks and vacuum trucks. The same is happening in Bodrum as it is in modern cities. Currently, there is an investment in every corner of Bodrum. These works have not been neglected, they are investment and service, which continue. We shall make the renovation of our old school in the neighborhood of Çiftlik with the collaborative work with with the ‘Public Education Center’ of Bodrum we have been doing together and bring the place as a course and education center for women and children. We are working for the happiness of Bodrum and we shall continue to do so.”. During his speech, Mr. Mayor Aras shared information regarding the projects as well to be carried out by Bodrum Municipality.
After the speeches, Ender Kasal, local artist of Bodrum took the stage and added spice to the opening with his melodies. Ahmet Aras, the Mayor and citizens dance as the folk dance tunes were played. At the end of the opening events, within the scope of the ‘8th Mother Earth Days and Domestic Goods Week’, tarhana soup (sourdough soup) with cowpea and Bodrum seaman rusk were offered by Bodrum Slow Food & Yavaş Gari.
