MAYOR ARAS “THE MUNICIPALITY IS AT YOUR SERVICE”

WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE ‘DECEMBER THE 3. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES’, EVENTS WERE HELD IN BODRUM

Within the scope of the ‘December the 3. International Day of Persons With Disabilities’, a series of events were held in Bodrum by Bodrum Municipality and the District Governship of Bodrum.

Within the scope of the ‘December the 3. International Day of Persons With Disabilities’, the events held in ‘Bitez Gülümser Mehmet Danacı Elementary School Sports-Hall’ by the District Governship of Bodrum were attended by Bilgehan Bayar, the District Governer of Bodrum; Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum; Tayfun Yılmaz, the Deputy Mayor of Bodrum; Mete Durukan, the Police Chief of Bodrum District; Özkan Yılmaz, the Distrtict Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant Colonel; Bülent Aldal, the District Director of National Education; Hayri Karagöl, the District Director of Public Education Center, representatives of NGOs, administrators of special education schools, teachers, families and numerous citizens.

Within the scope of the ‘December the 3. International Day of Persons With Disabilities’, students of ‘Bodrum Public Education Center’ performed a dance performance “Abone”. Moreover, folk dance show was performed by the students as well. Murat Taşçı, a student from Bodrum Public Education Center performed a solo piano show. During the events, students from Uğur Anatolian High School performed a show in sign language in under the title “We Shall Break Down Together The Barriers”. The Students from ‘Begonvil Rehabilitation Center’ performed a dance show and read poems. The Students of ‘Yahşi Special Education School’ performed a show namely “Come Close To Me”. Having receieved appreciation by citizens and the families of the students with disabilities, the events came to an end with the performance of the song “My Dear Friend Donkey” sung by the choir of Bodrum Public Education Center students.

Having spoken at the event, Ahmet Aras, the Mayor o Bodrum, “As Bodrum Municipality, we are trying to reach all the disadvantaged individuals in Bodrum Peninsula one by one and doing our best to support and provide service to them. Especially in terms of awareness, we want today to be filled with fruitful activities, which was carried out by the Directorate of National Education. As the municipality, we will organize an event to gather our disabled brothers, sisters and their families as well. Next week, we will organize a very important summit on climate in Bodrum. One of the most important issues of this summit is how disadvantaged individuals will be affected by the negative effects of climate change. Here, of course, we care about women, the disabled, children and the elderly. I invite you to be there with us and to contribute. Apart from this, both public and private organizations are trying to reach disadvantaged groups with a great volunteering motivation. There are some that we cannot reach, of course. Together with our ‘municipal field solution teams’, we are trying to reach these citizens of ours as well. We are going from house to house one by one,”.

They Had Fun In This Very Special Night

Within the scope of the ‘December the 3. International Day of Persons With Disabilities’, individuals with disabilities and their families enjoyed the night organized by Bodrum Municipality at the Müsgebi Wedding Hall.

In the special night attended by Bilgehan Bayar, the District Governor of Bodrum; Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum and the members of the municipal council, Mr. Mayor Aras sincerely appreciated the individuals with disabilities and their families for their participation in the night and said, “We are together with our children, young people and their families. We shall always be by your side. I always say this. Please do not worry about anything. If you have any trounle at all, our municipality shall always be at your disposal. Please do not ever forget this!”.
