23.11.2022
Meaningful support from young learners is appreciated a lot. The wheelchair purchased by the 4th grade students with their own savings within the scope of the ‘Small Savings Big Happiness Project’ was delivered to the ‘Bodrum Municipality - Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs’.
The students of 4/C class from ‘Martyr Serkan Göker Primary School’ bought wheelchairs with their savings as part of the ‘Small Savings, Great Happiness Project’, which have been started at their school. The students handed over the wheelchair to the ‘Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs’ of Bodrum Municipality to be given to a person in need.
İlkay Atbin, the classroom teacher, stated that the students who try to help the citizens in need as much as they can with the money they save, bought a wheelchair with the savings they made in the last two months, and said, “Within the scope of our project, which we started last year due to the pandemic, we help people in need with the money saved by 22 students in our class every month. The amount of money is not important, what really matters is that our children learn to both save money and help each other. With the money our children have saved in the last two months, we bought a wheelchair for a person in need and delivered it to Durmuş Türkan, the Director of Culture and Social Affairs affiliated to Bodrum Municipality.”
Students visited the Sportive Activities Coordination Bureau, Social Affairs Bureau and Sports Affairs Bureau affiliated to the ‘Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs’ and received information regarding the works carried out in the departments of the directorate.
The Students have been providing support LÖSEV (the Foundation For Children With Leukemia) and KAÇUV (The Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer ) since last year, they provided food packages to five families and intelligence board games for their children as well, who go to a village school.
