Children with Leukemia – Hand in Hand Project

Within the scope of the ‘Children with Leukemia Week’, Bodrum Municipality prepared handmade hats and amigurumi dolls fort he children, whose treatments continue.
Within the scope of the ‘Children with Leukemia – Hand in Hand Project’ (Pamuk Eller Lösemili Çocuklara), hats and amigurumi dolls were made by the women who participated in the handicraft courses and the housewives who voluntarily supported the campaign. In the initial stage of the ‘Children with Leukemia – Hand in Hand Project’ (Pamuk Eller Lösemili Çocuklara), 100 handcrafted goods are on the way to be delivered to their owners. The project is planned to be continued in winter months.
Hilal Karakaş, the handicrafts Instructor appreciated the support of Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum he gave to the ‘Producing Women Group’ supported by Bodrum Municipality. Karakaş gave information about the project carried out by the Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs of Bodrum Municipality and said: In the meetings of ours with LÖSEV, İzmir based ‘Foundation for Children with Leukemia’, we put the question: “As Bodrum Municipality, how can we provide support to our children with leukemia?”. Within the scope of the ‘Children with Leukemia Week’, we decided to make hand-knitted hats that will keep our kids warm in the cold winter months, and hand-knitted amigurumi dolls they can play with in their spare time. Around fifty women, who were instructed at our ‘Handicrafts Course Center’ and for those women, who are eager to give support in their homes, participated in this project.”
Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum stated that the ‘Producing Women Group’ has carried out another great project and said, “It is with great pleasure to be able to make our children smile and to share their happiness. We shall do our best to ensure the sustainability of this project. I sincerely appreciate the help of everyone with this project”
