The Mission Charter was signed by the Mayor, Aras
BODRUM PARTICIPATED IN ONE OF THE FIVE MISSIONS OF EU-COMMISSION 

In the meeting held in the ‘Hakan Aykan Culture & Art Centre’ of Bodrum Municipality Trafo Cafe, Ahmet Aras, Mayor of Bodrum signed the Charter of ‘EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change’.

The meeting, held under the leadership of Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum was attended by Prof. Dr. Tanay Sıdkı Uyar; the President of the Bodrum Municipality-Environment, Renewable Energy & Climate Change Commission, Emre Köroğlu; the Manager of the Bureau of ‘Research & Development – Project’, Environmental Engineer Nilay Karamustafaoğlu;  stakeholders, people residing in Bodrum and press members.

Being the 23rd municipality in Türkiye and the first in the province of Muğla to sign the ‘Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy’, Bodrum Municipality took a significant step at EU-level within the scope of its works done related to the climate crisis. After the city of Izmir and Izmit Municipality from Türkiye, Bodrum Municipality became the third to be included in one of the five European Commission Missions, the ‘EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change & Social Change’ aiming the targets by 2030, which will support the ‘European Green Deal’ and ‘EU Strategy on Climate Change Adaptation’.

The Consultant of the Works to be done related to ‘European Green Deal’, Prof. Dr. Tanay Sıdkı Uyar stated, that in consequence of the studies carried out by 2015 it was brought out: ‘solar energy is the cleanest and the cheapest’. Uyar expressed his gratitude to the Mayor, Ahmet Aras thanks to his significant contribution to such great movement.
