MAYOR TAMER MANDALİNCİ MARKS 29 OCTOBER REPUBLIC DAY
“The Republic is our greatest promise to the future”

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci has issued a message marking the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. In his message, he said:

“We celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the Republic with an unshakeable belief in our independence, a deep commitment to our shared values and renewed hope for the future.

29 October 1923 marked a turning point in our history: the moment a nation took its destiny into its own hands and crowned its struggle for independence with the founding of a modern, democratic state. The great victory won under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk paved the way for the proclamation of the Republic, opening a new chapter founded on the sovereignty of the people.

The Republic gave the people of this country a voice in shaping their own future. It opened the way to freedom, equality, justice, scientific progress and a modern way of life. It has been the greatest safeguard of women’s place in society, young people’s freedom of thought and children’s right to a brighter tomorrow. Now, in the second century of our Republic, we have a historic responsibility to carry these achievements forward, respond to the needs of the future and strengthen our founding values in every sphere of life. For the Republic is both a precious inheritance and a responsibility we share towards the generations to come.

The true strength of the Republic lies in the resolve of its people, their solidarity and their confidence in the future. To uphold it means working for a society in which every child has equal opportunities, every young person can build a future in their own country with hope, women can live freely and participate fully in every aspect of life, and no one feels alone or abandoned.

This conviction guides everything we do in Bodrum.

Freedom is woven into our way of life, tolerance shapes our relationships, and solidarity is part of who we are as a town. Bodrum’s deep connection to the values of the Republic is at the heart of our approach to local government.

We are working for a Bodrum that gives people a greater say in decisions, protects its natural and cultural heritage, and enriches the lives of children, young people, women and everyone who calls this place home.

We know that a town’s progress is measured by its people’s quality of life, the opportunities open to them, and their freedom and sense of security. That is why we see it as our responsibility to give meaningful expression to the Republic’s enlightened ideals in every neighbourhood, street and shared space across Bodrum.

As our Republic marks its 103rd anniversary, our greatest source of confidence is the intelligence, courage and creative determination of young people who want to build their future in this country. In this second century of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s faith in the younger generation remains a powerful call to shape the future.

Our task is to bring the courage of the Republic’s founders to the responsibilities of today, and to turn today’s efforts into tomorrow’s hope. We will continue to nurture our shared republican values throughout Bodrum, preserve this town’s free and enlightened spirit, and work with determination to leave future generations a place where they can thrive.

On the 103rd anniversary of our Republic, I remember with profound respect, gratitude and longing our great leader and the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and all the heroes who fought for our independence and our Republic.

I wish a very happy 29 October Republic Day to all the people of Bodrum who keep the Republic alive, uphold its values and look to its future with hope.

The light of our Republic will continue to illuminate our path, and its values will guide us towards tomorrow.”
