Bodrum Municipality has opened Karaova Community Cafe, creating a new affordable social meeting point for residents in the Karaova and Mumcular area.

The opening ceremony was held on Sunday, 11 October at Mustafa Kallem Park and was attended by Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Bodrum Belediye AŞ General Manager İbrahim Akbaş, Bodrum City Council President Osman Köseoğlu, deputy mayors, council members, neighbourhood heads, representatives of political parties and civil society organisations, municipal officials and residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Mandalinci said the facility had been created in the heart of an area closely associated with local production, trade and rural life.

“Although it is called a Community Cafe for retired residents, there is a place here for everyone, from young people to older residents,” Mandalinci said.

Mayor Mandalinci noted that the first such facility had opened in Çırkan Neighbourhood and said the municipality planned to establish similar social spaces in other densely populated areas of Bodrum. Karaova Neighbourhood Head Muhammet Karademir welcomed the opening and thanked those involved in bringing the project to the area.

Following the speeches, the opening ribbon was cut and Mayor Mandalinci toured Mustafa Kallem Park and the new cafe, meeting residents and spending time with children at the football pitch within the park.

Operated with a budget-friendly pricing policy, Karaova Community Cafe includes a large garden, Bodrum-themed wall art and an Atatürk corner, providing residents with a new space to meet and spend time.
