Bodrum Municipality’s Nostalgic Cinema Days concluded with a second evening of screenings at the historic Yeni (New) Sinema, where around 600 people watched the 1974 film Yazık Oldu Yarınlara.

The two-day programme was held on 25 and 26 September at Sinema Otopark on Gerence Street in Tepecik Neighbourhood, with the aim of reviving the atmosphere of the former open-air cinema. The final evening was attended by Deputy Mayor Ercan Pehlivan on behalf of Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Cinemarine Cinemas Chair Cenk Sezgin, Sinema Otopark operators Mustafa and Ahmet Özkeskin, BODTO board member Erdem Ağan and local residents.

The programme began with classic Yeşilçam music and local Bodrum songs before the film screening. Images of Bodrum from around half a century ago also brought back memories for many members of the audience.

Deputy Mayor Ercan Pehlivan said the venue had once been an important part of Bodrum’s social life as both an open-air cinema and wedding space. He said the municipality was pleased to revive the site’s cultural memory with the support of local contributors and thanked residents for their strong interest in the event. At the end of the programme, audience members said they would like Nostalgic Cinema Days to become a regular event in Bodrum.
