HOME COMPOSTING TRAINING TO SUPPORT ZERO WASTE GOALS

Bodrum Municipality will hold the first stage of a home composting training programme for women as part of “Food Waste Month”, under the slogan “Let Transformation Begin in the Kitchen”.

The training is being organised jointly by the Climate Change and Zero Waste Solutions Directorate and the Agricultural Services Directorate to encourage the separation of organic waste at source, reduce household waste and promote composting practices.

The session will take place at Herodot Cultural Centre on Friday, 9 October at 13.30. Participants will receive practical information on how organic kitchen waste can be turned into compost, methods for reducing household waste and the basic stages of home composting.

The programme will focus in particular on the Bokashi composting method and how food scraps can be separated and processed at source. Participation is limited to 90 people. Applications can be submitted until Friday, 2 October through the Bokashi Compost Training Application Form.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over, live in Bodrum and complete all required information on the application form. Proof of residence must also be submitted through the specified email addresses or physical application points.

The training forms part of activities marking October as “Food Waste Month” under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change’s 2026 thematic programme, and aims to raise awareness of food waste reduction and the recovery of organic waste.
