MAYOR MANDALİNCİ HOSTS GUATEMALAN AMBASSADOR

Guatemala’s Ambassador to Ankara, Eduardo Enrique Hernández Recinos, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Tamer Mandalinci as part of his diplomatic and local contacts in Türkiye. The meeting focused on possible cooperation between local governments, including joint steps in culture, arts, trade and tourism.

Ambassador Recinos underlined the role of culture and the arts in strengthening ties between societies, and said Guatemala aimed to develop partnerships with local authorities in this field.

During the visit, the ambassador also invited Mayor Mandalinci to the “Fraternity Concert”, planned to be held at Bodrum Castle on 30 September 2026, featuring musical works from Guatemala and Türkiye. Possible sister city and local government cooperation models were also discussed. Ambassador Recinos shared information on Guatemala’s export potential, particularly coffee, and referred to an ongoing sister city project between Cappadocia and a Guatemalan city with similar characteristics. He said a sister city or local cooperation model could also be considered between Bodrum and a Guatemalan city suited to Bodrum’s distinctive character.

Mayor Mandalinci expressed his pleasure at the visit and said Bodrum Municipality would be pleased to support cultural and artistic events, as well as mutual promotion projects that could strengthen ties between the two peoples and contribute to tourism.
