BODRUM MUNICIPALITY TEAMS SUPPORT FIRE RESPONSE WORKS

Bodrum Municipality teams supported fire response efforts at different locations across the district from the night into the morning.


Under the coordination of the Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate, municipal units were directed to the affected areas to assist Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and Forestry Directorate teams with extinguishing and cooling works.

In Dereköy Neighbourhood, a fire broke out in an agricultural area in Köy İçi at around 02.30. The response involved fire crews, Forestry Directorate water tenders, Bodrum Municipality water tankers, a MUSKİ tanker, municipal police, a coordination vehicle from the Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate, Bodrum Municipality Search and Rescue Team staff, residents and volunteers.

The fire was brought under control at around 03.30. Timely intervention prevented the flames from reaching nearby homes. Around 1.7 hectares of agricultural land were damaged. There was no loss of life, while one resident was affected by smoke.

A second fire broke out at around 08.00 in an agricultural area in Kabakum, Müskebi Neighbourhood. Fire crews, Forestry Directorate vehicles, Bodrum Municipality water tankers, municipal police and Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate staff took part in the response, with support from residents and volunteers.

The Müskebi fire was brought under control at around 09.30, after which cooling works began. Around 2.3 hectares of agricultural land were damaged, while timely intervention prevented the fire from reaching homes. No loss of life or property was reported.

Bodrum Municipality said its Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate would continue monitoring and standby work while fire risk remains, with vehicles, equipment and personnel ready to support relevant institutions in possible fires and emergencies.
