PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW VISITS BODRUM MUNICIPALITY
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited Mayor Tamer Mandalinci at Bodrum Municipality. Deputy mayors and municipal council members also attended the meeting, where Bodrum’s centuries-old multicultural heritage and the restoration of the historic (Aya Nikola) Saint Nicholas (Hagios Nicholaos) Church were discussed.

Mayor Mandalinci shared details of the project, which is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Directorate of Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology and Bodrum Municipality.

Using a model displayed at the municipal building, Mandalinci briefed Patriarch Bartholomew on the latest stage of the restoration. Mayor Mandalinci said the aim was to preserve the building’s original character and bring it back into the town’s cultural life as the “Aya Nikola Museum”.

Following the meeting, Mayor Mandalinci, Patriarch Bartholomew and the accompanying delegation visited Bodrum Bazaar and inspected the church site, where restoration works continue.

Mayor Mandalinci thanked Patriarch Bartholomew for his courtesy visit and his interest in Bodrum’s cultural heritage.
