MUNICIPALITY-RUN SWIMMING COURSES CONTINUE THROUGH THE SUMMER

Bodrum Municipality’s free summer swimming courses for children aged 5 to 13 are continuing with strong interest.

Organised by Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Operations and Subsidiaries, the courses are being held in two stages during the summer. The first stage began in July, while applications for the second stage in August have been completed. Around 1,000 children are expected to benefit from the programme this year.

The courses are being delivered by the municipality’s own instructors and lifeguards, using municipal resources. Parents are not admitted to the pool area so that children can focus on their lessons, but they can follow the sessions live on screens in the waiting area through cameras placed around the pool.

Mehmet Eroğlu, Director of Operations and Subsidiaries, said the courses were being held for the second time this year and had attracted strong interest from residents. He said the pool was cleaned regularly by municipal staff, water quality was analysed each month by an accredited company, and the results were displayed in the waiting area.

Children attending the courses said they enjoyed the lessons and had improved their swimming skills. Bodrum Municipality said it would continue to support children’s access to safe and high-quality sports activities.
