21.07.2026
Bodrum Municipality continues to support fire response and disaster preparedness efforts across the district during the summer season.
In June and July, municipal teams provided vehicle, personnel and equipment support for fire-fighting and cooling operations at 16 fire incidents in different parts of Bodrum. The works were coordinated by the Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate in cooperation with the Forestry Directorate, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, AFAD, AKOM, relevant public institutions and non-governmental organisations.
Municipal departments including Private Secretariat, Municipal Police, Public Works, Cleaning Affairs, Support Services, and Parks and Recreation Areas also contributed to the operations with vehicles and personnel.
The Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate is also strengthening preparedness through coordination meetings, equipment investments and field measures. Fire extinguishers in Disaster Response Containers and Rooms located in 31 neighbourhoods have been refilled and maintained, while new equipment has been added to the Bodrum Municipality Search and Rescue Team inventory.
Direction signs for assembly and temporary shelter areas have also been prepared, and two first-response vehicles have been upgraded with cabin and crane installations.
Training activities continue as part of the municipality’s disaster preparedness work. The Bodrum Municipality Search and Rescue Team has taken part in AFAD training, while disaster awareness sessions and evacuation drills have been held for students.
Bodrum Municipality will continue to work in coordination with relevant institutions to strengthen emergency preparedness and protect residents’ safety when needed.
