BODRUM MUNICIPALITY COLLECTS OVER 106 TONNES OF WASTE FOR RECYCLING

Bodrum Municipality continues its waste management efforts in line with its goals of protecting natural resources, reducing environmental pollution and supporting sustainable urban management.

As part of the work carried out by the Climate Change and Zero Waste Solutions Directorate, a total of 106,345 kilograms of waste was collected separately at source in 2026 before reaching the environment. All collected waste was directed to recycling and recovery processes.

The collected waste included 52,540 kilograms of glass, 41,825 kilograms of textile waste, 7,980 kilograms of mixed packaging waste, around 3,000 kilograms of electrical and electronic waste, approximately 400 kilograms of vegetable waste oil, 400 kilograms of expired medicines, and 200 kilograms of waste batteries and accumulators.

Through these efforts, an estimated reduction of around 48 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions was achieved, corresponding to the annual carbon sequestration of approximately 800 trees.

Bodrum Municipality’s Climate Change and Zero Waste Solutions Directorate will continue its work to separate waste at source and bring it back into the recycling system with the principle of “not waste, but a resource”.
