BODRUM MUNICIPALITY EXTENDS COASTAL REGULATION MODEL TO BİTEZ

A protocol has been signed between Bodrum Municipality and Coastal Management and Protection Inc. for the operation of the Daily Use Area in the Hacıahmetler area of Bitez Neighbourhood.

With the protocol signed at Bodrum Municipality, the management of the area, previously under the responsibility of the General Directorate for the Protection of Natural Assets, will now be carried out by Bodrum Municipality.

Under the agreement, the coastal regulation model implemented in Kumbahçe will also be applied in Bitez. The works aim to prevent uncontrolled occupation, unauthorised extensions and visual pollution that have developed in the area over the years, while establishing a qualified, regulated and environmentally sensitive coastal layout that protects the character of the natural protected area.

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci stated that the model successfully implemented in Kumbahçe, which received positive feedback from residents, will now be introduced in Bitez. He emphasised that only uses and structures permitted within the legal framework will be allowed, adding that the aim is to create an orderly, safe and accessible coastline where residents can enjoy spending time.

Bodrum Municipality will implement practices in Bitez that protect the environment and natural structure, prioritise public benefit and support more orderly public use of the coast. The works will continue in coordination with the relevant institutions and in accordance with current legislation.
