Ashura Day events were held in Bodrum to mark the final day of Muharram.
As part of the Muharram programme, Cem Foundation Bodrum Branch organised an Ashura gathering at the Eren Dede Tomb in Sabancı Park, Turgutreis. Residents came together at the event, where lokma was shared. The programme then continued at the Bodrum Alevi-Bektashi Cultural Association Cemevi, where ashura was served to participants.
The events were attended by Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Tayfun Yılmaz, deputy mayors, municipal council members and representatives of political parties and non-governmental organisations.
Following the Muharram fasts, the gatherings reflected the values of unity, togetherness, sharing and solidarity around the same table. The events, shaped by the spiritual atmosphere of Muharram and its emphasis on tolerance and mutual support, were held with strong participation from residents.
Throughout the month of Muharram, Bodrum Municipality also brought residents together through lokma-sharing programmes held at different locations across the district.
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci stated that the abundance and meaning of Muharram had been experienced together, and thanked everyone who contributed to the programmes that strengthened the spirit of unity and solidarity.
