The fifth stage of Bodrum Municipality’s 2026 seabed clean-up campaign, carried out for the past 12 years under the motto “Blue Suits the Sea Best”, took place in Akyarlar Neighbourhood.

Organised by Bodrum Municipality’s Support Services Directorate and Cleaning Affairs Directorate, the event was attended by Bodrum Municipal Council Members Necati Altun and Tayyar Gündoğan, TÜRÇEV Muğla Deputy Provincial Coordinator Abdullah Tan and Akyarlar Neighbourhood Head İsmihan Ulutaş.

As part of the clean-up, a volunteer diving team made up of municipal personnel removed approximately 850 kilograms of waste from the seabed. The collected waste was displayed on Akyarlar beach to raise environmental awareness before being taken to the Class 1 Waste Collection Centre in Konacık Neighbourhood for recycling procedures.

Through seabed clean-up activities carried out in different neighbourhoods throughout the year, Bodrum Municipality aims both to protect the marine ecosystem and to strengthen environmental awareness.

The next stage of the “Blue Suits the Sea Best” campaign will be held in Turgutreis Neighbourhood on Wednesday, 17 June.
