Bodrum Municipality continues its action against illegal construction across the district, with 45 unauthorised structures demolished since the start of 2026.

According to the municipality, demolitions have been carried out at 36 structures under Law No. 3194 on Zoning and at nine structures under Law No. 775 on Squatter Housing. The works continue in line with the established schedule.

The demolition programme is being carried out in coordination between the municipality’s Directorate of Building Control and Directorate of Public Works. Most recently, teams demolished one illegal structure in the Kadıkalesi area of Peksimet neighbourhood and another in Yalıkavak neighbourhood.

Municipal teams also carried out inspections at a residential site in Akyarlar neighbourhood where demolition decisions had been issued. The demolition was postponed after property owners gave an undertaking to remove the unauthorised additions within 10 days.

Bodrum Municipality said works relating to illegal structures for which legal procedures have been completed and demolition decisions issued would continue in line with the planned programme.

Commenting on the issue, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci said the fight against illegal construction was of great importance for the future of the district. He said the municipality would maintain its uncompromising stance in order to protect Bodrum’s natural beauty, historic character and quality of life, and would continue to enforce action against unauthorised building through the relevant legal procedures.
