MAYOR MANDALİNCİ EXPLAINS ONE-THIRD SEAFRONT ARRANGEMENT AT KUMBAHÇE
21.05.2026
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci has responded to recent public discussion over the one-third arrangement introduced along Kumbahçe seafront, saying the aim is to protect public access while setting clear limits for business use.
Speaking on site to members of the press, Mandalinci said the shoreline narrows significantly in places, with the distance from the pavement to the sea ranging from 20 metres at its widest points to around 5.5 to 6 metres at its narrowest.
Mayor Mandalinci said the arrangement divides the seafront into three sections: one for businesses using decked platforms, one for tables and chairs without decking, and a final section reserved entirely for public use.
According to Mandalinci, the width of the public-access corridor varies depending on the shape of the shoreline, reaching around 6 metres in the widest areas and falling to around 1.5 metres at the narrowest points. He added that some images shared on social media showed only the narrowest sections and did not reflect the full length of the coast.
Mayor Mandalinci said the arrangement was introduced in response to public demand and that inspections would continue to ensure businesses remain within the designated limits.
