BODRUM STEPS UP ENFORCEMENT AGAINST ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
20.05.2026
Bodrum Municipality has intensified its inspections to prevent environmental pollution and protect the district’s natural surroundings, with administrative fines totalling 240,000 Turkish Liras imposed on individuals and companies found to have polluted public areas and the environment.
Municipal Police teams, working around the clock to help protect Bodrum’s natural landscape, have continued environmental inspections across the district without interruption. During the latest checks, enforcement action was taken in several neighbourhoods.
In Yahşi neighbourhood, those responsible for leaving garden waste improperly beside refuse containers were fined 100,000 Turkish Liras.
In a separate case in Peksimet neighbourhood, a company and a vehicle driver were fined a total of 120,000 Turkish Liras after ready-mix concrete residue left in a concrete mixer was discharged into a public area, causing environmental pollution.
Another intervention took place in the Kaynar area of Torba neighbourhood, where an individual was fined 20,000 Turkish Liras for the illegal dumping of rubble.
In addition to the financial penalties, individuals who caused pollution by leaving rubble and garden waste were made to collect and remove the material themselves under municipal supervision.
Commenting on the issue, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci said a clean and liveable Bodrum could only be achieved through a shared sense of environmental responsibility. He said protecting Bodrum’s unique natural environment, protected areas and living spaces remained among the municipality’s foremost priorities, and stressed that there would be no tolerance for actions that damage nature or threaten public wellbeing.
Bodrum Municipality said environmental enforcement would continue across the district without interruption. Residents were also encouraged to report similar incidents through the Bodrum Municipality Call Centre on 444 00 48.
