The second phase of Bodrum’s district-wide clean-up campaign, carried out under the slogan “Blue and White Campaign” and coordinated by Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, has been completed.
Organised by Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Cleaning Services, the operation took place on Wednesday 13 May in Kumbahçe, Çarşı, Eskiçeşme, Gümbet, Bitez, Tepecik, Turgutreis, Karabağ and Bahçelievler. The works brought together deputy mayors, municipal council members, municipal staff, neighbourhood heads, volunteers and teachers and pupils from several schools.
Alongside local and general cleaning works aimed at raising public awareness, teams from the Directorate of Public Works and the Directorate of Support Services carried out maintenance, repair and renewal works in the areas covered by the campaign, while the Directorate of Parks and Gardens continued grass-cutting operations. Municipal enforcement teams also carried out inspections and related action in response to environmental, visual and noise pollution caused by caravans parked irregularly in public areas.
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci said a further clean-up campaign would be held ahead of Eid al-Adha. He said the second clean-up mobilisation of 2026 had brought together 750 municipal staff and volunteers, with 1,500 people taking part in total, adding that keeping Bodrum clean was a shared responsibility.
At the end of the day, rubbish bags collected during the operation were arranged at Belediye Kafe in Gümbet neighbourhood to spell out the message: “Let us keep Bodrum clean.”
